Timber Flooring And How to Install It

Every day is decision making day. Each day might be a big day for each person around the world - a new job, place, family, or a house. Each day, people decide and budget money. When building a house, money is really important that is why everything should be exact and budgeted. One important segment of a house is the flooring. People tend to disregard flooring but it plays a vital role in aesthetically building a home. Without it, the beauty of the entire house would be affected. This article will talk about timber flooring and how to install it easily.

Timber flooring is one of the finest floorings used for houses especially for country houses which match the environment pretty well. Though it might look simple, but it is one of the most delicate and hard to maintain this kind of flooring because it is difficult to replace. Before installing the planks, they must be set aside on the room where it would be placed in order for the planks to adjust to the temperature of the room. Wood is quite reliant on the temperature causing it to either shrink or expand. The floor or the base where the timber is supposed to be placed should be smooth and clean so that the planks would fit evenly on the surface. It must also have specialized notches for the pieces to come together snugly and perfectly.

There are several of methods in installing the timber flooring. One method is to first cover the floor with adhering flooring material such as the flooring felt or other similar items. Allow extra sheets to overlap each other then temporarily group them together using binding materials like a staple gun or maybe just a strong glue to hold it in place. The aforementioned specialized grooves must lean toward the side of the wall as you start to put the boards into place. This will allow a little expansion of the wood without causing damage to the other adjacently lying boards and causing cracks. Then when everything is set, permanently mount the boards to the floor with appropriate screws or iron nails. Finish mounting the first row of boards first closest to the wall before starting the second row. It is also important that you utilize the grooves to prevent the boards from slipping thus locking it into place.  For the second row, the edges of the second row boards should align at the center of the first row b
oards. This does not only provide a better design structure but it is also functionally important in keeping the joints of the boards in place each row supporting the previous one. Continue doing this routine for the rest of the rows and then finally reaching the last row, give a half an inch allowance for a gap between the other side of the wall and the last row boards because this will provide space for the floor trim and also for further expansion of the timber flooring boards.
